Made several weeks ago, this one is en route to Europe. Made from the promo postcard for GoMA’s film noir series, it’s a snap shot from the classic Double Indemnity, which is more than 60 years old now, but remains timeless.

IDay 19
How to achieve world peace?

this old village
in a world of one colour
the cicada’s cry

We need to move on from old thoughts, old patterns, old worn beliefs that we consider comfortable and move beyond our monochrome homogenised worlds that pit one absolute against others.

It’s time to embrace the kaleidoscope of humanity and revel in our differences, appreciate and honour them, whilst finding the commonalities that bind us together. Unity in diversity.

And we must listen to the cries of those that cut through. We must work to comfort, support and assist those in need, those in pain. Because it’s far too easy to suddenly become the displaced, the ostracised, the maligned, the hated, the ‘other’ because we allowed the distress of others to go unheeded, unheard, undefended.

We are first and foremost a single tribe. Until we work from that most basic of premises, there will always be one side against another. 

Time to leave the old village behind and build a new one where everyone is welcome.

Postcardia-cum-Poetica #29

Made from scratch from a pilfered holiday brochure (nabbed specifically for the front cover image which I then discovered was twice as big because it folded out) and words from the Elyora baggie of page fragments.

Quite happy with the way it turned out. Gothic with gothic with gothic.

Elyora Goodreads Giveaway

These are all in the post today – copies of Elyora won by people who entered the Goodreads Giveaway. I’m ecstatic to know there will be a copy in England, Norway, the Czech Republic, Indonesia and Poland.

Because I was late in getting these out, I made litttle egg shaped book marks using The Paprly Shop’s free Easter download, each has a personalised message on the back. Felt good to add something handmade.

There’s also postcards headed to the USA and Europe along with this mail out, a tarot bag to the USA and a bookmark to Melbourne. The next lot of bookmarks I’ll offer only to my blog subscribers as so far I’ve only shared them on Instagram.

It’s now time for a cup of tea and a rest before it’s the school run and the rest of the afternoon’s domesticities.
